The Benyon Estate in Hackney’s De Beauvoir Town is a family-owned, family-run estate known for its attractive 19th century houses with generous gardens, wide tree-lined streets and a friendly, village environment.
McLoughlin Contracting was awarded the contract in the summer of 2018 to complete a series of ongoing external decoration works which includes; carpentry, sash window replacements, roof replacements, rendering, brickwork and decorations.
Works have consisted of patch repairs to architraves, timber care remedial works, fascia and soffit repairs as well as door repairs and replacements, all in preparation to be painted. 16hr repair care resin is used on external timber.
Dulux products have been used throughout including; QD metal primer, Metalshield Gloss in black for the railings, Weathershield under coat in white for the window sills and grey on the doors, Weathershield gloss in white again for the window sills and blue on the doors and Weathershield smooth masonry in white for everything exterior.
All paints are applied to the suitably prepared surfaces using traditional brush and roller methods in accordance with the specification.
Our skilled tradesmen have carried out external rendering and brickwork remedial works, which has included hacking off defective areas of render, preparing the surface and re rendering affected areas to bring the substrate back up to an acceptable level. They have removed any defective pointing and then re-pointed and replaced any defective bricks. The mortar mix that has been used has consisted of building sand mixed with water and powdered plasticiser and Troupret Touprelith F filler is used on the exterior masonry.
Our supply chain partners completed sash window replacements and roof replacements where identified by the client. When carrying out roof replacements, we added a top hat to the scaffold and wrapped scaffold in a protective covering to ensure protection from all external elements and create a dry and warm working environment. Roofs were stripped and rafters surveyed, identifying any that needed replacing. Once defective rafters were replaced we then recovered with existing and new slates.
Our supply chain partners erected and dismantled full scaffolding, which was double boarded, fully netted and alarmed.
PAT tested tools such as routers, saws, hammers, chisels and general hand and power tools have been used.
All operatives are fully qualified with CSCS cards and Asbestos awareness certificates.
Works are completed to the highest standard with the neighbouring residents needs in mind at all times.
We look forward to continuing our contract with The Benyon Estate and completing further works as directed by the client.
