We completed decorations to 600 student rooms, corridors and communal areas for Balfour Beatty who were the Main Contractor working for Urbanest Student Accommodation.

We have worked for Balfour Beatty for over 25 years and pride ourselves in the long standing relationship we have with them and many of our clients including Urbanest Student Accommodation who were the overall client (we have been working with them direct undertaking all of their wallcoverings for over 10 years).

We worked closely with Balfour Beatty and their design and cost team in the early stages to advise on finishes and also value engineering options prior to contract being awarded.

This was a new build project with a programme of 6 months, but due to being completed through Covid the programme expanded to 12 months. We worked closely with the Balfour team and collaboratively with all other trades to ensure a safe working environment including areas only being worked in by individual trades through the pandemic.

Throughout the project our level of operatives was steady at 10, but at peak times increased to 30. The jump to 30 was required at hand over stages and we were able to accommodate this due to our large workforce.

Daily DABS (Daily Activity Briefing Schedule) Meetings were held with our site manager, other trades managers and Balfour project manager to discuss sequencing and any potential bottlenecks.

Weekly Director meetings were held with our Contracts Director and Balfour Project Director to look ahead and ensure labour was available and all materials were ordered and again to foresee any issues and mitigate as early as possible.
